New Year’s Resolutions

Published by jober at 11:00 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I read an article today about the most popular New Year’s Resolutions.  They were, in this order:

  1. Lose weight
  2. Manage debt
  3. Save Money
  4. Get a Better Job
  5. Get Fit
  6. Eat Right
  7. Get a Better Education
  8. Drink Less Alcohol
  9. Quit Smoking
  10. Reduce Stress
  11. Take a Trip
  12. Volunteer to Help Others

I’m wondering just how many people make New Year’s resolutions and, more importantly, how many of those people actually keep them.  I don’t usually make resolutions but in the back of my mind, I regard the New Year as a new starting point and I guess subconsciously I try to improve some things in my life.

I plan to lose the 5 lbs I gained through the holidays.  I haven’t had any debt for years, although I would like to save more money.  I like my job and the intense activity keeps me fit.    I already try to eat healthy but I could do with fewer sweets.  I already have all the education I’m going to get.  I already don’t drink or smoke.  I definitely need to work on stress reduction.  I took a trip to New York in 2008 and would like to take another trip somewhere nice in ‘09.  I already volunteer.  So, there you have it.  I guess for me it boils down to eating fewer sweets, saving more money and relaxing more.  Would like to hear what others plan to do in ‘09.
