How to Soothe Dry Winter Skin
Many people have a problem with dry skin in the winter when humidity is often low. Problem areas are usually the legs and hands. If you wash your hands often like I do, you probably have dry skin on your hands. Taking care of this is important because, not only is dry skin uncomfortable, inflammation can set in.
To combat dry skin, remember that soap and water can dry out skin. Try taking short, lukewarm baths or showers using a moisturizing soap. I like the Oil of Olay soaps but any moisturizing soap will work. Remember, no long hot soaks! Immediately after drying, apply a lotion or moisturizer to hold in the moisture from the bath. Use the same strategy every time you wash your hands.
And of course, drink plenty of water.
