Clean Air Adds Years to Life

Published by jober at 10:49 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

A new study has recently shown that the reduction in air pollution in recent years  has increased life expectancy in the United States.  Dr. C. Arden Pope III, from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, told Reuters Health, “… this is the first study that provides direct empirical evidence that long-term reductions in air pollution contribute to significant, measurable increases in life expectancy.”

We’ve long known the health benefits of fresh air and that air pollution increases risks for lung cancer, asthma, and other respiratory problems but to learn that fresh air can lengthen life is quite a motivation to look for new ways to further clean up the air we breathe.  It also has the potential to influence our choice of places to raise our families.
